Coffee and Cigarettes

Since I managed to squeeze into the stopgame blog space for the third time, I decided to make a small comparison of the main theme of the Bioshock game series. In the meantime, I’m replaying Bioshock & Bioshock 2, I decided to tell a little cool story and try the “questionnaire”.

Just an hour ago I went into a cafe-bar, where there is a wonderful table, separated from everyone else by a screen. I placed an order and realized that there was no usual ashtray nearby. I asked the young waitress where the ashtray actually was. And she answers me: “Soon the Duma will adopt a new law, and we proactively removed all the ashtrays, making both halls “non-smoking.”. Smoking is now only allowed near the bar.". And there were already 10-15 people at the bar, who were producing such an amount of smoke that the whole hall was plunged into fog.

An interesting fact is that the prerequisite for this bill was the increased dissatisfaction of the masses with tobacco propaganda in art. Similar discontent became the premise of the law on protecting children from harmful Internet sites (I don’t remember the exact wording). As in the case of pedophilia, the reason was not the fact of harm to health, but namely, I quote, “the fact that positive characters in films should not smoke, because they are a bad example for the younger generation.”.

Nowadays you rarely see a character in a film who smokes. Domestic filmmakers are already following the general fashion for a healthy lifestyle, keeping up with Western ones. But. But smoking tobacco had a huge impact on the film industry and in general became almost the main artistic technique. Just look:

A man sits hunched over at the bar and slowly, with trembling hands, brings a cigarette to his lips. Inhales tobacco smoke deeply. Plumes of smoke wrap around the brim of his hat like an ephemeral snake. He looks down at the old, black and white photograph he’s been holding in his hand all this time. Photo of my daughter.

A banal device that tells us about longing, that something happened. Is it possible to replace this image with anything else (precisely the image, t.To. games and films operate specifically on the visual component)? I don’t think there will be widespread censorship and persecution of “walking ashtrays”. But the scriptwriters, again in my opinion, will begin to exclude such scenes from the scripts in order to lower the age rating.

P.S. I don’t deny the harm of tobacco as a drug, although I myself have been smoking since I was sixteen, and I don’t know if I can get rid of this bad habit.

And, in the school toilets there was https://kingdomcasino-uk.com/games/ such a smoke screen that you would go in for a minute without the smell of tobacco smoke, but when you came out you would feel like you had been in a gas chamber for a week..

I hate people who can, standing, say, at a bus stop, pick up and light a cigarette in the middle of the others, without even trying to move away. Or those who, when talking with a non-smoker, do not take the cigarette out of their mouth and continue to inhale and exhale. If you want to spoil your health, then you need to do it away from those who don’t want it.
And in movies or games I like to watch people smoking, it adds some kind of charm. But the attitude towards women who smoke is in any case negative.

I don’t smoke, I’m neutral about this matter 🙂
P.S. I’ve never understood people who say that you should quit smoking and go through pilot school in San Andres on the first try..
I smoked for a year and a half myself, but when I stopped smoking I didn’t experience any signs like irritability or the desire to “take another drag, just once.”.
And, to be honest, I didn’t even quit smoking, everything just happened somehow 🙂

-Getting up in the morning when you don’t want to.
-Go where you don’t want to go.
-Do something you don’t want to do.
-Spending your health to earn money.
-Spend money to improve your health.
Yeah, talk about madness here. (//_-)

I don’t smoke and have never smoked. No, there was one time when I was young (very young) we were drinking and my friends handed me a cigarette. I took one puff and then tried to put the cigarette out on the eye of the person who gave it to me.
And now I’m stupidly annoying all my smoking friends asking them to move away from me when they smoke.

I smoke, I have a positive attitude because I like to smoke. But the rest should absolutely not give a damn about my or anyone else’s smoking, as long as it doesn’t affect them. How to kill myself is up to me to decide.

Isn’t it possible to think of something to replace the banal technique?? That’s why artists are creators, to invent and create.

But it’s so banal it’s a classic. How can you replace the classics?? All innovations will come down to either arthouse or alcohol.

Need to. Allow drugs, take circulation under state control, and sell hard drugs generally cheaply, so that all sorts of assholes degenerate as quickly as possible.

That’s right bro) It seems like who knows how long ago I started being in the company of smokers, but I still couldn’t get used to the smoke.

It’s strange that there are no options “I smoke/don’t smoke, I have a neutral attitude towards smoking”.

For example, I smoke, but I absolutely don’t give a damn whether another person smokes or not. Why do I even care?? And it infuriates me that they are trying to impose their point of view on me. This is, after all, my right, my choice. Moreover, I started smoking quite consciously, and not as usual for company at a university or school in order to seem cool. And in general, coffee with cigarettes is too pleasant, especially on a summer evening on the street.

Why can I choose whether to drink cola or not, but I can’t choose whether to smoke or not?? Why should someone decide for me?? Besides, there are a lot of professions where you simply cannot help but smoke. Take a walk around Mosfilm and you’ll see what I mean.

But, on the other hand, I agree with Kokz that you shouldn’t smoke in a crowd, etc. And I absolutely don’t like that in our cafes the smoking and non-smoking areas are separated by air. And why is the ventilation in the smoking areas so poor?. I like to smoke, but I don’t want to sit in the smoke.

Still, you need to respect other people. There’s no need to smoke under the noses of non-smokers, but I don’t need to fucking ban smoking either. Instead of this stupid law, it was necessary to simply introduce strict rules for the ventilation of establishments and the separation of halls, and that’s all. And to prohibit me from showing people smoking in my films is completely beyond the bounds.
